The Booksfromkay Story

My grandfather, a school principal and a firm believer in education, was strict but never unkind. Yet, in that house filled with order and discipline, I often felt alone. Grief has a way of making the world feel quieter, heavier. I needed an escape, but I didn’t know where to find until I started reading books. Fast forward to 2010 my sister started selling books. One day, she took me along to Rumuola flyover in Port Harcourt, where she bought books. At first, I just watched, not thinking much of it. But then she handed me a few books to sell, I did and we split the profit. I didn’t know it then, but that moment would change everything. During the holidays, I would sit for hours, completely lost in stories that took me far away from my own reality. Books became my refuge, my escape from the weight of grief and the silence that often filled my world. And when I returned to school, I didn’t just keep them to myself—I started selling them to my friends, sharing the magic I had found in their pages. My grandfather noticed the change. He may not have said much, but I knew he saw it. Whenever he caught me reading, he never interrupted, never scolded. It was as if he understood—books were doing something for me that nothing else could.

For years, I continued selling books, growing my little business one sale at a time. But life, as it always does, took its turns. At one point, I took a long break, stepping away from the thing that had once been my solace. Yet, the pull of books never truly left me. In 2019, I decided to start again—but this time, with a clearer vision. I gave my dream a brand name: “Booksfromkay”. Setting up the business & building a team wasn’t easy. I wondered if people still craved the feel of a book in their hands, if stories still had the power to captivate in a world that was moving so fast. But as we resumed sales operations, I realized something beautiful—there were still so many people like me, people who found comfort, adventure, and even healing in books.

Today, Booksfromkay has become more than I ever imagined, reaching readers across the world. What began as a small act—selling books to my friends in boarding school—has turned into a journey of sales revenue connection, passion, and purpose. In 2025, we launched a book club, and our memberships are growing every day as we remain inspired by our commitment to our vision and mission.
